Thaw

I wrote this for the Sing for Our Planet songbook — but it was just too short, one minute instead of five, and I didn’t like any of the things I tried to lengthen it. So, I submitted something else instead. In the meantime, this piece might make a good encore piece for a small community choir, or fit well with other pieces about spring or awakening.

Thaw

Over the land freckled with snow half-thawed
The speculating rooks at their nests cawed
And saw from elm-tops, delicate as flowers of grass,
What we below could not see, Winter pass.
– Edward Thomas

The .pdf and .mid files are available from ChoralWiki/CPDL as usual, and this work is released under a CC BY-SA licence.

I haven’t recorded it yet, but I do intend to make a recording of this one, and of some of my other choral unison/SA-keyboard works; I will put them on bandcamp and blog about them when that happens (it may not be for a while yet).

If you enjoy my work and you are able to do so, please support me by pledging your support on Patreon (from USD $1/new work), buying my albums on Bandcamp (name your price), commissioning a choral work or telling other people what you like about my music and how to find it.
